A Direct Attach Copper cable or a DAC cable is a twinax copper cable that is factory terminated with modules to provide an electrical connection directly into active equipment, such as switches, routers, servers or data storage devices, in a data network. DAC cables can make 10G Ethernet Connections, 40G Ethernet Connections & 100G Ethernet Connections.
Here’re benefits of using DAC cables:
– Less Power Consumption – Compared to optical transceiver modules.
– Lower Price – Not require patch panels or additional cables when connected to devices as optical transceiver modules.
– Simpler Deployment – DAC cable has only one component to be interconnected.

Active Optical Cable (AOC) is a cabling technology that accepts same electrical inputs as a traditional copper cable, but uses optical fiber “between the connectors”. AOC uses electrical-to-optical conversion on the cable ends to improve speed and distance performance of the cable without sacrificing compatibility with standard electrical interfaces. As data rates rise and data center clusters grow in size, copper cable technology is getting stretched to its limits. Active Optical Cable (AOC) becomes the Rising Star of Telecommunications & Datacom Transceiver Markets.
